Terms of Service
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Early-access draft: these terms are a plain-language starting point and will be reviewed by counsel before commercial launch. If anything here worries you, ask us — we mean the plain reading.
1. What Cygnetree is
Cygnetree is client-management software for small businesses: contacts, projects, invoicing links, contracts and e-signing, scheduling, forms, messaging, and automations. It is operated by Cygnetree ("we", "us").
2. Your account and your data
You own your data — your clients, projects, documents, and files belong to you, not to us. We host and process them only to run the service for you.
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in access secure and for what happens under your account, including API keys you create.
3. Payments
Payments between you and your clients run through your own Stripe account. The money moves directly from your client to you; we never hold your funds and take no percentage of them. Stripe's own terms apply to your Stripe account.
4. Electronic signatures
The contract tools help you present documents for electronic signature and keep a tamper-evident record of who agreed to what, and when. We don't provide legal advice, and template documents are starting points — have your attorney review anything you rely on.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Cygnetree to send spam, break the law, infringe others' rights, or attempt to breach the service's security. We may suspend accounts that do.
6. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep the service up and your data safe (encrypted in transit and at rest, with continuous database backups), but the service is provided "as is" without warranties. We may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
7. Fees
During the current early-access period the service is free for invited users, including referral-code accounts. Paid plans will be announced before any charges begin — nobody gets silently converted to a paid plan.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for disputes between you and your clients.
9. Leaving
You can export your contacts and download your documents at any time, and you can close your account whenever you like. On closure we delete your data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
